Dive Insight:
By acquiring Paperless Environments, Sage is taking another step in its efforts to invest in artificial intelligence and automation for its products, per the announcement. By further combining the offerings of Sage and Paperless, the companies will aim to connect finance, project and jobsite teams.
The acquisition builds on continued M&A momentum across the construction industry, which surged in 2025 and has maintained pace this year. In particular, firms that offer specific value propositions have been snapped up by larger entities in a bid to increase their service capabilities, such as Procore with its acquisition of DroneDeploy for $845 million in cash.
For its part, Sage has acted intentionally to add technologies to its portfolio that builders will need, said Dan Miller, executive vice president of financials and ERP at Sage, in the announcement.
“Contractors should not have to piece together critical information from across their finance, project and field teams,” Miller said. “Paperless brings a highly experienced team with expertise in accounts payable automation and document workflows that will help reduce the manual work involved in managing invoices, project records and compliance documents across offices and jobsites.”
Paperless Environments is headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Its specific offerings include the ability to capture and file documents from any location via a user’s phone, as well as index and store different documents and distribute them securely to different users, according to its website.
