- A consortium led by Fluor Enterprises has been given the design-build job of erecting a new Tappan Zee Bridge to carry the New York State Thruway over the Hudson River north of New York City.
- The group that calls itself Tappan Zee Contractors had the lowest bid, at $3.14-billion, of three finalists.
- The Tappan Zee Constructors proposal also calls for the least dredging of the river for construction – 951,000 cubic yards – and is supposed to be accomplished in a little more than five years.
