Code Pro Resources today announced the launch of an expanded online platform that connects homeowners, property owners and businesses with vetted construction professionals while continuing to provide direct access to building-code expertise.
At the center of the new platform is the Code Pro Certified program and a searchable directory of contractors, design professionals and other construction specialists. Every professional earning Code Pro certification is individually reviewed by licensed building officials before being approved and listed on the platform.
“Finding a qualified construction professional should not require a leap of faith,” said Brian L. Blackwell, co-founder of Code Pro Resources. “By reviewing each applicant’s credentials, license, experience and professional references, we are giving customers a more confident starting point while helping reputable businesses demonstrate the value they bring to every project.”
To qualify for Code Pro certification, applicants must have been in business for at least one year, hold an applicable professional or business license and provide three professional references. Applicants must also submit information about their services, areas of expertise and past work. Approval is not guaranteed, and each application is reviewed by the Code Pro Resources team.
The platform includes professionals serving residential and commercial projects across a broad range of specialties, including:
- General contracting and remodeling
- Electrical, plumbing, roofing and mechanical/HVAC
- Architecture, design and professional engineering
- Fire protection and sprinkler systems
- Building-code consulting and plan review
- Home inspection, land surveying and floodplain services
- Accessibility, energy-code and zoning consulting
- Real estate and construction-related professional services
Customers can search the Code Pro directory by location and specialty at no cost and contact certified professionals directly. Code Pro Resources does not set contractor pricing, add markups or collect a percentage of project fees.
Customers who are unsure which type of professional they need can also submit information about a residential or commercial project for free. The Code Pro Resources team will review the project and provide personalized recommendations from its network of certified professionals.
“We are building the platform around verification, not simply the number of companies listed,” said Ruthie Helms, co-founder of Code Pro Resources. “Our goal is to recognize qualified professionals who value safe, responsible and code-compliant construction while making it easier for customers to find the right expertise for their projects.”
Code Pro Resources originally launched as an online resource connecting contractors, homeowners and design professionals with experienced building-code experts. The expanded platform builds on that mission by offering two ways to move projects forward: finding a Code Pro Certified professional or submitting a specific code question to an expert.
The company’s code-question service provides guidance for residential, commercial and industrial projects across 14 trade and code categories, including building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, permitting, accessibility, fire safety, energy codes and flood prevention. Users can submit photos, plans or video with their questions, which are typically answered within one business day.
For certified businesses, the platform provides a detailed, searchable profile featuring company information, specialties, work samples and direct contact information. Certified companies can also display the Code Pro Certified badge in their marketing to demonstrate that they have completed the platform’s review process.
Code Pro Resources was founded by Blackwell, Brent Bullard and Ruthie Helms, who bring more than 90 years of combined experience in building codes, construction, inspections and public safety.
