Tutor Perini Building Corp. laid down a winning hand to renovate and expand a casino in Oklahoma.
Parent company Tutor Perini announced Thursday that the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma tapped the firm for a $140 million renovation and expansion of the Choctaw Casino & Resort in Pocola, Oklahoma.
Scope includes interior and exterior renovations of the existing hotel and casino, all food and gaming venues and construction of a new seven-story, 130-room hotel tower. The latter will comprise a spa, fitness center and pool complex, according to the news release.
TPBC has been working on the preconstruction phase of the project since 2025; it expects to commence construction during the third quarter, per the release.
The subsidiary of the Los Angeles-based contractor has gotten lucky with casino work in the past. Last summer, the firm was dealt a $220 million contract for Phase 2 of the Eagle Mountain Casino expansion near Modesto, California.
Developers have picked up the pace of hotel planning in recent months, even as data center builds continue to dominate the broader construction landscape. Meanwhile, notable casino projects to reach milestones recently include Bally’s $1.7 billion Chicago development, which features a 500-room hotel and topped out in May. And in February, Hard Rock International announced plans for an $850 million hotel and casino in Puerto Rico.
Not all of Tutor Perini’s hotel projects have come up aces, however. The firm has faced prolonged litigation stemming from its build of the W and Element hotels in Philadelphia, where it recently faced a $42.4 million judgment.
