Triax, Bosch deal uses data to track workers and tools
- Construction technology company Triax Technologies and Bosch Tools, the power tools division of the Bosch Group, are combining the Triax Spot-r network with Bosch’s Bluehound asset tracking product to provide real-time data collection and monitoring of workers, equipment and tools, according to an announcement from the two companies.
- Spot-r provides worker locations, time and attendance and other data using a scalable mesh network, wearable devices, equipment sensors and a cloud-based dashboard. Bosch’s Bluehound tracking tag enables users to manage and determine the location of tools and assets from a web portal.
- The companies said that the integration of the two platforms will provide contractors with more relevant data along with increased visibility into the location and utilization of tools, helping reduce downtime and inefficiencies.
Integration is key for construction firms when comes to jobsite technologies, and the combination of the Triax Spot-r network with Bosch's Bluehound product expands the range and scope of cloud-based tracking capabilities in the field, according to the companies. Triax's belt-clip device, which monitors worker attendance, time on the job and locations, has also been integrated with jobsite management program Procore.
The Bosch Bluehound, a cloud-based program, tracks a wide range of information about tools and equipment. This transparency should help construction managers determine where they need to spend money as well as set up invoices and other administrative tasks.
For small contractors, tool tracking programs can help transfer tools between sites, maintain the right number of tools at the job, automate maintenance, optimize utilization, improve supply chain visibility and increase employee productivity. Beside Bosch's Bluehound, other options are ToolWatch, a cloud-based program that utilizes bar-coding and an app to provide details on the location of tools and equipment, and ASAP, a tool crib monitoring system that helps track when tools are checked out, reserved and due to be returned.
