Construction spending — Monday, Oct. 2
Construction spending got off to a strong start this year, but it has been trending downward since March, falling short of analyst expectations. On Monday, Oct. 2, the Commerce Department will release its construction spending figures for August, offering insight into how continuing uncertainty over infrastructure spending and economic policy, as well as Hurricane Harvey, impacted activity during the month. Construction payroll growth slowed for the second-straight month in August as the labor shortage continued. On Friday, Oct. 6, the Bureau of Labor Statistics will release its employment numbers for September. That afternoon, the Associated General Contractors of America will offer its take on the data.
