Dive Insight:
Developed in partnership with JLL and local firm Marnell Architecture, Bally’s Las Vegas will offer more than 500,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space. The resort will be home to a casino and a VIP experience with direct access to the ballpark, according to Bally’s. The resort is expected to break ground in the first half of next year.
The project “aims to meet the growing demand for integrated entertainment while positioning Las Vegas as the ultimate stage for professional baseball and large-scale global tourism,” according to Bally’s.
In the second quarter of 2025, Las Vegas saw a decline in international visitors, particularly from Canada, CEOs for Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resorts detailed during earnings calls. Overall visitor volume to Las Vegas was down 12% and 6.7% year over year in July and August, respectively, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
The declines in Las Vegas tourism follow a broader trend, with the U.S. on pace to lose $12.5 billion in international visitor spend this year, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council.
Despite the dips, Las Vegas operators remained optimistic at midyear about future group bookings and sports tourism in the market. During a Q2 earnings call, MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle noted that Bally’s $1.8 billion Oakland Athletics ballpark is “expected to bring 400,000 new visitors annually to Las Vegas.”
Bally’s resort, alongside the ballpark, “represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine the heart of the Strip,” Soo Kim, chairman of Bally’s board of directors, said in a statement, adding that the resort will be a “landmark destination that unites sports, entertainment, dining and hospitality on a scale only Las Vegas can deliver.”
Bally’s is also working on a hotel and casino project in Chicago.
