- Alliant Energy has chosen KBR to construct their new power plant in Marshalltown, Iowa.
- The new combined-cycle, natural gas-fired power plant will cost approximately $700 million and should begin commercial operation in the second quarter of 2017.
- The new plant is expected to provide power to more than 500,000 homes in the Marshalltown area.
KBR, an industry leader in the construction of power plants, will help Alliant Energy meet not only the overall cost cap set by the Iowa Utilities Board, but also their reduced emissions goal. Alliant Energy’s new plant will be part of their long term goal that balances energy supply with reduced emissions, said John Larson, Alliant Energy’s senior vice president of generation.
