Skanska USA Civil, the U.S. infrastructure arm of the Stockholm-headquartered builder and developer, has named a new CFO.
Effective Jan. 1, 2027, Antonia Junelind will succeed Jari Mäntylä in the financial captain’s chair, according to a Monday news release. The shift is part of a longer-term leadership transition as Mäntylä will shift his focus to strategic initiatives for Skanska USA Civil ahead of his future retirement.
Junelind, who has spent over 15 years at Skanska, has held roles in finance, investor relations, transactions and business development, per the announcement. She currently serves as senior vice president of investor relations.
“Antonia brings a global perspective and a strong understanding of Skanska that will be valuable as we continue to grow,” Don Fusco, president and CEO of Skanska USA Civil, said in the release. “She brings tremendous energy, curiosity and a strong work ethic, along with a willingness to get into the details and do what it takes to move the business forward.”
Mäntylä joined Skanska Finland as CFO in 2010, then relocated to the U.S. in 2016 to become CFO of Skanska USA Civil. During his tenure, he helped strengthen the builder’s U.S. financial performance.
The U.S. infrastructure market has performed well for Skanska, especially since the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in 2021. The sector is a frequent highlight during the builder’s quarterly earnings calls, which have been moderated by Junelind.
For example, a joint venture of Skanska and Stacy Witbeck won a $1.9 billion contract with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority for a light rail project in Van Nuys. Skanska listed its share of the contract at $957 million when it announced the win in mid-August.
At the start of the summer, Penn Transportation Partners, a partnership between Skanska and Halmar, won the master developer role for the $8 billion renovation of Penn Station in New York City.
“Skanska’s USA Civil business is in a very strong position, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to build on that foundation,” Junelind said in the release.
Junelind and Mäntylä will work closely together in the months ahead to ensure a smooth transition.
