• California is suffering from one of the worst droughts in its history, but swimming pool contractors are as busy as ever.

• Construction Monitor, which tracks building permits, reported that Californians built or rebuilt 11,000 residential swimming pools last year, more than any other year since 2007.

• That number could rise to 13,000 this year, according to Capital Public Radio of Sacramento.
