When International Risk Management Institute (IRMI) set out to update and revise their longstanding Design-Build Risk and Insurance guide, it turned to the construction risk and insurance specialists at American Global to spearhead the comprehensive update.
The guide has served as a trusted resource for risk management professionals for decades but required a fresh perspective to reflect the continued evolution of design-build project delivery, the advent and expansion of progressive design-build construction, and the increasingly complex risks facing the construction industry. To ensure a thorough and comprehensive revision, IRMI called upon American Global's expertise to review and rewrite the reference, drawing on the firm's extensive experience in construction risk management, property and casualty insurance, professional liability, surety, and alternative project delivery.
American Global put forth an impressive team of seasoned specialists to work on the update, including several members from our Infrastructure practice. Collectively, Caryn Maxfield, Ante Petricevic, François Wasselin, and Giovanni Bach, who bring a powerful combination of practical industry experience, deep insurance expertise, and insightful perspectives. American Global's Infrastructure Solutions group has also contributed to the firm's recognition as “Insurance/Risk Advisor of the Year” at the P3 Awards for four consecutive years, further underscoring its experience in managing complex infrastructure risks.
The update addresses the unique risks associated with design-build construction, including contractual risk allocation, indemnification, limitations of liability, professional liability insurance, project-specific coverage solutions, and bonding considerations.
"We were honored that IRMI entrusted our team with updating this important industry resource," said Caryn Maxfield, Senior Vice President at American Global. "With the continued evolution of design-build delivery and the increasingly complex risks facing project participants, our goal was to provide current, practical guidance for navigating these challenges."
Edited by IRMI's Megan Jolly, CRIS, the updated Design-Build Risk and Insurance guide is now available online for current subscribers. To learn how you can get access, contact IRMI for more information.
