Skillit, the professional network using AI to connect the construction industry to craft workers across America, today announced Dynamic Onboarding, a new capability that reads job descriptions from Skillit’s hiring partners and asks craft workers only what those specific jobs require. Instead of completing a static questionnaire covering every skill in their trade, workers now move through a personalized onboarding built from the positions employers need filled right now, matching qualified candidates to live openings from the start.
Traditional onboarding questionnaires ask every worker in a trade the same fixed list of questions, regardless of which jobs are actually available in their area. Long, catch-all questionnaires also cause workers to skip or never reach the questions that matter for the jobs they want, and workers who apply to multiple contractors often answer the same questions again in each contractor's own applicant tracking system. Dynamic Onboarding instead surfaces relevant open positions to applicants as they move through the qualification process. Skillit analyzes each hiring partner's job descriptions to identify the qualifications that matter: certifications, experience, licensing, equipment operated, specific skills, location, site conditions, or any other verifiable requirement.
“Craft workers want to share what they can do and get opportunities that work for them,” says Skillit CEO and founder, Fraser Patterson. “It sounds simple, but finding good work through job boards and referrals is insanely slow and painful. Now, when craft workers join Skillit, they tell us what they can do, and in a few easy minutes, our entire network goes to work for them and surfaces the best opportunities. That simply wasn’t possible before AI. Skillit members also get transparency into why a job is a great fit and connected to employers directly.”
As a worker progresses through onboarding, previously answered questions are automatically skipped, their profile builds out in real time, and matching open positions are surfaced to them. Workers answer each qualification question only once, rather than repeating themselves for every contractor they apply to, and every question on Skillit ties directly to a live job description from a hiring partner. Subjective criteria such as "strong work ethic" or "hard worker" are explicitly excluded. Workers can also jumpstart the onboarding process for their Skillit profile with a resume.
