As part of American Global’s aggressive but organic growth strategy, the broker continues to add seasoned professionals and top technical specialists to their already impressive roster. Three recent key hires will provide additional capacity to the insurance broking and surety teams while further supporting and enhancing the capabilities they offer clients.

Carlos Rodriguez has joined the broking team as Vice President, a national senior broking position dedicated to Builder’s Risk, based out of the firm’s Atlanta office. An accomplished underwriter and risk management professional, Carlos brings special expertise in both property and engineering insurance including construction and energy as well as highly engineered risks. His experience with strategic planning, stakeholder relations, negotiations, and analysis, as well as his multilingual abilities (with proficiency in English, Spanish and Portuguese) will enhance the depth and capabilities of our team. Carlos will manage new projects and advise
on current projects and risks for clients, helping identify issues and recommending appropriate coverage. He holds a Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from Florida State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Florida International University.

Joining Carlos on the team is Senior Broker Joseph Ragusa, with 15 years of construction insurance experience in Property & Casualty, Cyber, General Liability, and Workers Compensation. Based in New Jersey, Joe has already become an integral member of American Global’s knowledgeable and respected broking team. As a former Account Executive, he is well-versed in risk management techniques and is dedicated to ensuring positive outcomes for clients. Joe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from William Patterson University of New Jersey and holds the following industry certifications: AINS, CRIS and CPLP.

Growth also continues north of the border at American Global Canada, as they welcome Benjamin O’Donnell, Vice President. Ben will work alongside Senior Vice President Elias Sawan in Montreal, the firm’s newest Canadian location, while supporting his teammates in Ontario and Alberta. Ben is an experienced surety underwriter and proven leader, fluent in French, English and Spanish. Ben most recently served as Senior 

Vice President at Marsh and previously held roles as senior underwriter for Allianz Canada among others. He is an active committee member at several industry organizations and volunteers his time to charitable programs such as AICSEC and PennyDrops. Ben earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree (major in Financial Accounting) from HEC Montreal and has been recognized by Insurance Business Canada magazine as a “Rising Insurance Star Under 35.”
