Webcor Promotes Jitendra Pahilajani to Senior Vice President of South Bay Operations
SAN FRANCISCO, July 8, 2019 – After opening a San Jose office last year, Webcor has elevated Jitendra Pahilajani to senior vice president of South Bay operations. Since starting with the company as a project engineer in 2004, Pahilajani has served in multiple roles and divisions, most recently as vice president of preconstruction and estimating for Northern California.
“Jit has long been a real spark plug for us, and his considerable work in and around Silicon Valley has resulted in excellent project outcomes and client relationships,” said Jes Pedersen, Webcor president and CEO. “He has worked both in the field managing projects and on the operations and business development side, leading project pursuits, preconstruction, and client relations. We are thrilled to have him growing our presence and teams out of the San Jose office.”
After earning a B.S. in civil engineering in his native India, Pahilajani helped build India’s largest (at the time) cable-stay bridge. Upon earning his master’s degree in structural engineering at Arizona State University, he joined Webcor’s specialty concrete division in 2004 and soon began work as a field engineer.
Pahilajani brought dramatic innovation to Webcor’s preconstruction and estimating division, which had previously been a team of full-time estimators. He began bringing builders into estimating and estimators into field work for 12-month rotations, exposing each group to the reality faced by their counterparts.
Added Pedersen, “Jit has developed very successful internal training programs and is a valued team-builder. He knows everybody and is well-versed in every dimension of the business. His optimism is infectious, and he is innovative and tenacious.”
Among the projects Webcor has won with the help of Pahilajani’s estimating teams are the California Memorial Stadium at UC Berkeley, San Francisco’s newest luxury condominium high-rise The Avery, Samsung Electronics’ North America headquarters, UC Merced’s expansion project doubling the size of the campus, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Biosolids Digester Facilities project, Oceanwide Center in San Francisco, Menlo Gateway phases 1 and 2, and Hotel Nia.
Webcor has deep roots in the Peninsula and South Bay market starting with its founding in San Mateo in 1971. To date, it has delivered more than $2 billion worth of construction to the greater Silicon Valley area. Completed projects include contracts with San Jose State University, Samsung, eBay, Oracle, EA, and downtown San Jose high-rise condo buildings, such as Axis and The 88. Webcor’s current activity in the region is robust with projects underway, such as a five star hotel in Sunnyvale, an airport lounge at San Jose International Airport, a co-living complex in San Jose, a large commercial class A office space in San Jose, and contracts with market-leading technology clients for their high-profile campus projects.
