Los Angeles/San Francisco, Nov. 8, 2018-- The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) has named William (Bill) Reifsteck II, director of preconstruction at Webcor in Los Angeles, one of 20 industry leaders chosen as the 2018 inaugural class of DBIA Fellows. The designated Design-Build Professional™ Fellow status is the highest level of DBIA certification and acknowledges the achievements of the nation’s most accomplished design-build professionals.
“Design-build is the fastest growing and most popular segment of our nation’s construction industry, and DBIA is leading the way in advancing Design-Build Done Right™,” said Lisa Washington, executive director and CEO of DBIA. “Much of that success is driven by the incredible leadership of design-build innovators like Bill. DBIA is proud to honor the contributions made by the impressive members in this first class of DBIA Fellows.”
As a preeminent California design-build contractor, Webcor is currently building the largest educational design-build project in the country, the 2020 expansion project at University of California, Merced. Reifsteck is heavily immersed in Webcor’s design-build methodology, overseeing its project management control processes, including scheduling, cost control and safety management.
A 35-year construction industry veteran, Reifsteck was a founding member of DBIA in 1994 and has helped grow and develop the organization to become the authority on best practices for the design-build delivery process. Today, with more than 60 percent of U.S. projects design-built or employing elements of the approach, the DBIA offers a popular certification program which Reifsteck was instrumental in creating in 2000. Post-creation, he spent eight years on the certification board. Reifsteck has also been a DBIA executive board member, among many other chapter and committee roles, and he was awarded the Design-Build Distinguished Leadership Award by DBIA in 2010.
