Award-winning construction management firm promotes two seasoned executives to drive Tri-State division growth
NEW YORK (October 10, 2018) – Shawmut Design and Construction, a leading $1.2 billion national construction management firm, today announced key leadership changes to support continued growth in the New York metro area. After seeing a 24% year-over-year division growth in 2018, Sharon Cadman and Steven Giordano, co-leaders of Shawmut’s Tri-State division, have been promoted from senior directors to vice presidents. Together, they will lead the business line, currently forecasted to show a 43% growth in 2019.

This change in leadership at Shawmut comes after the firm has met significant milestones in the New York metro area. In addition to overall growth, the Tri-State team boasts a 58% growth in its healthcare vertical over the past three years. Tenant interiors has consistently expanded since 2017 and the team is projecting a 49% growth into 2019.
In her 22 years at Shawmut, Cadman has held numerous high-level finance positions within the organization, including her post as national director of business finance and, most recently, as senior director. Cadman was integral in the launch and growth of Shawmut’s New York office over the past 17 years and is well steeped in Shawmut’s culture and values. Cadman holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola University, Montreal, and is an ACMA (UK) of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. She is also an active and passionate contributor to Summer Search in New York.
Giordano has spent his tenure at Shawmut becoming ingrained in the Tri-State division, first as director of construction operations and then as senior director. Prior to Shawmut, he served as a high-level construction executive in New York for 25 years. Leveraging his extensive industry experience, knowledge of the regional market, and preexisting networks, Giordano has focused on providing an unrivaled construction experience while growing the division. He holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture with a minor in construction management from Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute.
Charged with long-term growth, Cadman and Giordano will focus on overseeing operational excellence throughout the Tri-State division. Over the last year, the group has worked with some of New York’s most prestigious academic, cultural, and healthcare institutions. Recent additions to Shawmut’s impressive roster in the area include projects with NYU Langone Medical Center, Columbia University, Park Avenue Synagogue, the Whitney Museum, New York-Presbyterian, Pratt Institute, and the Grolier Club.
