Paul Koch, PE, has been appointed as Stantec’s Regional Leader, US Southeast, encompassing 500 staff in 14 offices across six states. Koch will be responsible for regional operations, local delivery of professional services, and financial performance. He will provide leadership to support existing clients and future growth plans.
“As the new Southeast Regional Leader, Paul will help the region continue to be successful,” said Mike Kennedy, Senior Vice President. “His leadership and expertise, particularly in working with our numerous environmental and transportation practices, will help us achieve a new level of recognition.”
Koch brings more than 24 years of experience, most recently providing senior management on projects ranging in size from $1 million to $3 million. He is actively involved in professional organizations such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) user group of the North Carolina Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). He also serves as a judge for the annual Future Cities Competition, which exposes middle school students to fundamentals of engineering and planning.
Betsy L. Watson, PE, also based in Stantec’s Raleigh, North Carolina office, has been named managing leader for transportation in Stantec’s Raleigh and Charleston offices. In her new role, Watson will continue developing Stantec’s transportation practice throughout the US Southeast and across the company.
With more than 16 years in the business, Watson has served as project manager, discipline lead for traffic engineering design, and engineer of record on transportation projects including interstate improvements, superstreets, diverging diamond interchanges (DDI’s), roundabouts, and bicycle and pedestrian safety enhancements. She is a registered professional engineer in North and South Carolina and a member of the North Carolina Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
Across North America, Stantec’s 1,600-person transportation staff provides roadway and bridge design, traffic planning and transportation engineering, and public transportation and transit initiatives.
