Dive Brief:
- Construction crews erecting a bridge over Interstate 15 in southern California are back at square one after a fire that broke out Monday afternoon and burned the bridge down.
- Debris falling onto I-15 closed the road northbound side of the road until at least Tuesday afternoon and the southbound side into Wednesday.
- The San Bernadino County Fire Department said workers cutting rebar with torches started the fire, which state Department of Transportation spokeswoman Terri Kasinga said "takes them right back to the beginning."
Dive Insight:
The bridge, to carry Ranchero Road over I-15, has been under construction since early 2013, the state said. Closing the interstate took out the primary connector between southern California and Las Vegas.
