- On New York City's West Side, along the Hudson River, Related Companies has begun work to raise a 26-acre concrete platform that will cover a rail yard and be beneath three towers in the first phase of the ambitious Hudson Yards development.
- The platform will have 250 concrete caissons set on bedrock and will weigh 37,000 tons.
- The first phase includes the towers on the platform and a fourth tower built on the ground and already under construction, and the work will all go on while trains continue to move.

Building in Manhattan is not for the faint of heart, but the Hudson Yards development is audacious even by New York standards. Related's plans have work on the towers beginning as soon as their portion of the huge foundation platform is ready. Everything is set to be complete by 2018.
