Dive Brief:
- A $2.2 million grant from the Federal Highway Administration will support nationwide training work by the American Traffic Safety Services Association.
- The group has Traffic Control Technician and Traffic Control Supervisor safety courses and also offers a Flagger Instruction Training Course.
- The grant announcement came not long after several reports in recent weeks of workers being injured or killed at highway work sites.
Dive Insight:
The association is based in Fredericksburg, Va. Its members are companies and individuals in the traffic control and roadway safety industry, including the firms that supply most of the pavement markings, road signs, work zone traffic control devices and guardrails used on U.S. highways. It makes sense for the organization to want to make it safe for workers to install its members' products.
