The Tennessee Builders Alliance celebrated topping out on the New Nissan Stadium, the $2.1 billion future home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, according to a Turner Construction news release.
The Friday event commemorated the placement of the final beam on the Nashville, Tennessee, project, which broke ground in March 2024. The venue is scheduled to open in 2027.
The building group consists of New York City-based Turner; Indianapolis-based AECOM Hunt; Brentwood, Tennessee-headquartered Polk & Associates Construction; and Nashville’s own ICF Builders & Consultants.
Construction teams placed more than 12,400 beams totaling 18,000 tons of steel and poured approximately 98,000 cubic yards of concrete for the framework of the 1.8-million-square-foot stadium. Crews will next begin installing the Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene roof system. ETFE, a translucent material often used in stadium domes, lets in sunlight while also providing climate control for fans.
The project owners intend Nissan Stadium to serve as a year-round destination and host for multiple events, including college and professional football, concerts and civic events. The design incorporates a translucent roof, 360-degree outdoor porches and a 12,000-square-foot community space.
TBA and the Titans say they have prioritized workforce opportunity and inclusion at every stage. Thus far, the project team has counted 3.6 million hours worked by approximately 1,800 onsite workers each day. Of that total, 18.5% of hours have been performed by residents of Nashville’s Promise Zones — regions of the city with high poverty that receive federal support. Over $110 million has been paid to Disadvantaged Business Enterprise firms, according to Turner’s release, representing nearly 100 small, women-owned and minority-owned businesses.
Through more than 120 community engagements and workforce events across Middle Tennessee, the project team connected local residents with construction careers. The Titans Construction Training Camp program graduated 96 participants, per the release, across eight cohorts, with over three-quarters receiving job offers upon completion.
