Dive Brief:
- A transit is fundamental for a development that KDC plans to start later this year in Dunwoody, Ga. The project, just outside of Atlanta, will have 2.2 million square feet of office space when it is completed.
- The project will take eight to 10 years to build out, KDC said, with the first building on the 17-acre site expected to be completed in late 2016.
- The project will have a direct connection to a Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit station and eventually will have 100,000 square feet or restaurant, retail, and entertainment space, as well as a 200-room hotel.
Dive Insight:
KDC says the project draws on a growing national interest in development that connects with mass transit to become all-round locations for people who want connections between living, working, and entertainment without having to drive. State Farm has already signed up for 585,000 square feet in the first office building and is expected to expand as the project grows.
