Dive Brief:
- Canadian lift-maker Skyjack has been running a contest for a year offering a new lift to whoever has the oldest, still-working Skyjack in the world.
- The contest began at the Rental Show 2013 and ended at the 2014 version with the award going to Kraner Electrical Ltd., a contractor in Guelph, Ontario, where Skyjack is based.
- The machine, an SJ-006-10 made in 1985, is the third to come out of Skyjack's factory, and Kraner says the used machine it bought in 1996 is still in daily use.
Dive Insight:
The company is giving Kraner a SJIII 3219, 19-foot, scissor-lift from today's fleet painted in the old livery. No word on whether Kraner will to retire the SJ-006 to a museum, but co-owner Matthew Kraner got a 1984-style Skyjack jacket to wear home.
