Dive Brief:
- Iraqi Consultants and Construction Bureau forked over $2.7 million to the Department of Justice to end an investigation of claims that it bribed former Corps of Engineers contracting officer John Alfy Salama Markus.
- The U.S. claimed it happened from 2006 through 2009 so the company could get early information about reconstruction projects the Corps was going to fund and that it got 10 jobs that way.
- The settlement said that the company didn't admit it had done anything wrong and the government was not saying it could not have won a conviction.
