Dive Brief:
- Advocates for spending more on U.S. roads and other infrastructure will be buoyed by the results of a National Association of Manufacturers survey of 400 companies.
- Seventy percent of the respondents said transportation infrastructure is in, at best, "fair" shape.
- The survey also found that 65% of the companies think roads and other infrastructure are going to get in the way of economic growth in the next 10-15 years.
Dive Insight:
The construction industry and engineering companies that want to see more money put into fixing or replacing aging infrastructure will like what they find in the survey. The association's president, Jay Timmons, said, "Our outdated roads, ports and inland waterways are in desperate need of repair and continue to add costs and complications as manufacturers move their products to market.”
