Satisfied customers who call again and word of mouth from them to their friends are still the main marketing resource for remodelers, but social media are growing by leaps and bounds as a strategy for finding business, a survey by Professional Remodeler magazine found.
Websites are proving very helpful, too. But the magazine's respondents showed social medial blossoming.
The biggest increase in business sources "was for social media, with 49 percent of remodelers saying they reach out to clients through sites such as Facebook and Twitter. That’s up from 29 percent last year and 18 percent in 2010," the magazine reported.
Not everyone is a fan, however.
"Social media 'requires an inordinate amount of time for return on investment,' said one remodeler. 'Social media that is not updated is more of a negative than if it had not been started at all.'"
