Dive Brief:
- Procore, one of the largest contech providers in the construction industry, has acquired Datagrid, a vertical artificial intelligence firm that offers a host of AI agents for contractors, according to a Jan. 20 announcement. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
- The acquisition will accelerate Carpinteria, California-based Procore’s AI strategy and deliver enhanced data connectivity for its customers, per the announcement. Datagrid, headquartered in San Francisco, will also help Procore connect to third-party data sources, such as ERP and cloud storage systems, to break down data silos.
- While core AI capabilities remain embedded in Procore’s platform, the new Datagrid offering will benefit customers who have multiple data sources and advanced-reasoning use cases, according to the release.
Dive Insight:
Datagrid offers a host of AI agents for tasks along a builder’s path, according to the company’s website. The agents can perform deep search, RFI validation, scope checks, pre-qualification, audits, daily reports and other tasks.
“By integrating Datagrid’s AI and deep search capabilities, we will enable customers to bridge the gaps between siloed data and initiate actions across their entire ecosystem,” Steve Davis, Procore’s president of product and technology, said in the news release. “This connectivity unlocks the true value of construction data, allowing our customers to innovate faster and focus on building the world around us."
With the deal, Procore and Datagrid will begin to offer products available to both Procore and non-Procore customers.
“By joining Procore, we can now unlock unprecedented levels of productivity and quality for the thousands of customers who already build on its platform,” Thiago da Costa, Datagrid’s founder, said in the news release. Da Costa will join Procore to lead AI and data strategy, according to the announcement.
The deal follows a flurry of M&A activity at the end of 2025 and observers predict that buyer activity won’t slow down in 2026. On the contech side, these deals included reality capture firm Openspace’s deal to acquire progress tracking startup Disperse and project management platform Buildots’ deal to acquire safety and workforce management platform Genda.
