Dive Brief:
- Pinnacle Construction's project management arm, its Construction Support Group, has devised a system for finding qualified subcontractors and then making sure they stay in compliance with a range of requirements.
- The company begins by inviting subs to pre-qualify and get into the company's system, then collecting the necessary details, such as insurance paperwork and safety manuals, from the best ones.
- After that, the automated system takes over and tracks the subs' requirements for submitting forms, keeping insurance current and other matters, and it has cut internal labor by 20 to 30 hours a week.
Dive Insight:
Tracking the details about subs is hardly what contractors want to be doing when they are trying to get projects started and then keep them on track. Naturally, it's something to hand off to dedicated staff, but that also naturally drives up overhead. What Pinnacle found was that the best bet was enlisting technology.
