Dive Brief:
- The Philadelphia 76ers will no longer be the only NBA team without a dedicated practice facility. The team will break ground on a new practice facility in Camden, New Jersey this October.
- The new 120,000 square foot facility will be the most advanced facility in the NBA and will house both the 76ers basketball and business staff.
- According to a press release, the facility will be developed by AthenianRazak, a Philadelphia-based company, and INTECH Construction will be the construction manager for the project.
Dive Insight:
The project, projected to be completed in June 2016, is not the first of its kind; nor are the 76ers the first to build a facility outside of their hometown. Last year, the NFL’s Washington Redskins built a $10 million training center in Richmond, VA.
