The design-build team of AGC of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., was set to start a multiyear, multiphase, $1.662-billion renovation of the Pentagon. It was to begin in October 2001.
Then 9/11 changed many things, including the scope, timing and phasing of the huge project.
In a Herculean effort, as Constructor Magazine reports, "The project team got started just three days after the devastating attack and, despite facing a constantly shifting schedule and evolving design, brought the mammoth project to completion four years earlier than originally scheduled."
