Funding will come from private and federal sources
Two teams with Atlantic- and Pacific-coast partners and one that hails from two of the nation's oldest cities have been selected to do landscaping work to rehabilitate sections of the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Rogers Marvel Architects of New York and PWP Landscape Architecture of Berkeley, Calif., are going to work on Constitution Gardens, near the Vietnam memorial.
A second bi-coastal team, Gustafson Guthrie Nichol of Seattle, and Davis Brody Bond of New York, got the nod to work on Union Square, near the Capitol at the foot Capitol Hill.
The East Coast team is OLIN, from Philadelphia, and Weiss/Manfredi from New York. That team is charged with redesigning the grounds around the Washington Monument.
