- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) levied a total of $272,720 on a general contractor and three subcontractors after it inspected a construction site in New York City.
- Flintlock Construction Services LLC, based in Mamaroneck, on Long Island, got the bulk of the penalty, $249,920 over scaffolding issues, fall protection and safety training.
- .Thew subs fined were V&P Altitude of Brooklyn, a siding contractor; SMK Associates of Queens, a masonry contractor; and Maspeth Steel Fabricators Inc. of Long Island, a steel-framing contractor.
Dive Insight:
The inspection that led to the fines came after a complaint about fall safety, which OSHA said involved potential drops of up to 26 feet. The violations are among the ones that put fall protection at the top of the OSHA violation list for Fiscal Year 2013 that ended Sept. 30.
