- A tough winter notwithstanding, Northeastern University had broken ground on a $225 million, six-story facility that will provide space needed by four of the school's colleges.
- Suffolk Construction is the contractor for the boomerang-shaped Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex that is being put where a parking lot has been.
- The building will have 220,000 square feet and is expected to generate 600 construction-related jobs on the way to opening in 2016, Northeastern says.

The complex is Northeastern's first major construction project in a decade and is a commitment to the Roxbury edge of the campus. It will have a suspension bridge over Amtrak, commuter-rail lines and a division of the subway system to link two portions of the urban campus.
