Dive Brief:
- The new big guy in the aerial platform world is JLG Industries' 1850SJ Ultra, which the company says can get a worker up 185 feet – 5 feet higher than the Genie SX-180, which has been out less than a year.
- JLG said its machine has a capacity to carry 1,000 pounds up those 19 stories, allowing a worker to have more tools and materials and be more efficient during a lift.
- The rig takes less than five minutes to move from the ground to the maximum height, JLG said.
Dive Insight:
Among the other features JLG is touting are a telescoping boom that allows for movement over and around structures and axles that need less than a minute to go between their narrow transportation position and their wide-stance operating position.
