Calling itself the Bakken Housing Summit, there is an effort to gather public and private officials to put on a full-court press to build 5,000 homes in 24 months to accommodate workers in energy development in western North Dakota.
"Western North Dakota is experiencing dramatic economic growth spurred on by energy development throughout the Williston Basin and the prolific Bakken shale play," the effort's website states
It is unclear which agencies or groups are organizing the summit, but it is scheduled for May 16 and 17 in Williston, N.D.
The Williston Area Development Foundation has another promotional website called Rockin the Bakken that backs energy development in the area.
The summit organizers say they want to gather city officials, state agencies, private infrastructure companies (utilities, roads, etc.), land developers, housing developers, home builders, commercial contractors, mortgage lenders, commercial lenders, private equity investors, capital markets companies and real estate investors.
