- The program that makes building feasible in areas inside mapped federal flood zones is now fixed through Sept. 30, 2017.
- The National Association of Home Builders said the program is critical for some of its members who build in areas where conventional insurance is too expensive or im possible to get to cover flood losses.
- Lapses in the past have caused headaches for both builders and buyers who have had to postpone closings.

In an important victory for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and its members who rely on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), Congress has reached an agreement to reauthorize the program through Sept. 30, 2017.
