Dive Brief:
- Mercedez-Benz plans to introduce a 4x4 version of its Sprinter work van in the U.S. next year.
- The van will be available in 144- and 170-inch wheel bases and in three configurations – all cargo, all passenger or a combo with two rows of seats and cargo space behind them.
- The four-wheel feature will be push-button operated, and it will be a 35:65 front-rear split of the power.
Dive Insight:
The timing of the decision to bring the four-wheeler across the Atlantic makes one wonder if this winter – the one that still will not let go – had anything to do with the decision. At this point, Mercedes is the only company that has announced this kind of truck for the U.S. market.
