Dive Brief:
- Users of Autodesk's BIM 360 Field program who have iPads can get a free app that powers field use of the software.
- The app allows 2-D and 3-D models and lets users place virtual "push pins" to mark issues.
- Autodesk says users with the app can use QA/QC, safety and commissioning checklists, create and update issues and reference project documents in the field—whether or not they have an Internet connection at the time.
Dive Insight:
The app adds a good bit of flexibility for program users who are on the Apple platform in the field. Being able to use the BIM features on data carried on the iPad and save it for uploads later when a connection is available is an attractive feature that could speed up work by allowing more BIM access.
