The Hermiston, OR, School District plans to list a 2,050-square-foot home for sale on June 1 that was built by high school students.
-
The two-bedroom, two-bath custom home is about 70% complete. It features energy-efficient lights, appliances, windows, and heating and cooling; a whole-house sound system; granite countertops, custom wood cabinets and doors, and hardwood floors.
-
The district will accept sealed bids and will turn over the house to the highest bidder in late June, according to The Hermiston Herald.
Dive Insight:
The house is the first of 11 that students in the Columbia Basin Student Homebuilder program aim to construct and sell, The Herald reported.
Students worked shoulder-to-shoulder with professional architects and engineers to design and build the home. The proceeds from the sale of the first home will go toward funding the next one.
