Hensel Phelps has a new CEO.
Brad Jeanneret, formerly president and COO for the Greeley, Colorado-based contractor, has taken the helm as president and CEO, according to a Jan. 6 announcement. The change was effective Jan. 1.
Jeanneret succeeds Mike Choutka, who had served as CEO since 2019, per the announcement. Choutka will now transition into a new role as chairman of the board.
Jeanneret joined Hensel Phelps in 1996 in Southern California as a field engineer. He worked his way through the ranks as a superintendent, project manager and vice president, according to his Hensel Phelps biography.
While in his previous roles, Jeanneret worked across regional offices and business units that helped him better understand the firm and its culture, per his bio. In 2023, Jeanneret also led the creation of Diverge, Hensel Phelps’ innovation and advancement arm, which aims to use new ideas, tech and approaches to strengthen the company’s long-term competitiveness.
“Brad has demonstrated strong leadership and driven exceptional results, and the Board has full confidence in his ability to lead Hensel Phelps forward,” Choutka said in the release. “Having served in many roles throughout the organization during his 29-year career, his vast operational experience has prepared him to take the helm.”
In addition to Jeanneret’s appointment, Hensel Phelps also made the following executive moves in the Southwest, per the release:
- Steve Grauer has been promoted to executive vice president, overseeing the Southwest region, services and mission critical integrated solutions, after serving as regional vice president of the region since 2008.
- Cole Weaver has been promoted to regional vice president of the Southwest region, following a 19-year career marked by progressive leadership roles, most recently as director of operations for the region.
Hensel Phelps isn’t alone — Concord, California-based Swinerton also has an executive transition, with chief revenue officer Don Adair set to retire effective Jan. 9.
