Richmond American Homes’ southern California division beat more than 900 other builders to win the 2015 Avid Cup — Avid Ratings’ top national prize for customer service. The winner was chosen after scoring highest on a survey of homeowners who purchased new houses in 2014.

Meritage Homes’ Tucson division took the Avid Diamond Award for scoring highest for “new home move-in experience,” which is based on customer reviews of their purchasing experience within the first 90 days in their new homes. Meritage’s Tucson and Phoenix divisions won Avid Gold Awards for scoring higher on the survey than their local competitors.

The contest also recognizes individual customer service associates, designers and project superintendents.

An award based on customer reviews can be marketing gold for a homebuilder in a competitive market, especially when so many high-profile companies compete for it.
Participating in this year’s study were 25% of the largest publicly traded builders, 38% of the largest private builders, and hundreds of small-volume and custom builders.
