Denver Broncos shut out fans during training camp renovations

Dive Brief:

  • No pro sports team wants to antagonize its fan base, the people who care year-round, but the Denver Broncos do not really have a choice.
  • Construction crews are in the middle of renovations at the NFL team's headquarters and training facility at Dove Valley, southeast of Denver.
  • There is nowhere for fans to safely watch preseason activities this year, but the team is making it up to them by scheduling three practice sessions at Mile High Stadium, including the annual summer scrimmage, and making admission and parking free for all of them.

Dive Insight:

The Broncos said it is "safety and logistical issues" that are forcing them to keep out the dedicated fans. Presumably the team knew the $35 million project would shut down things.
