The proposal for an 11-acre, $2 billion-plus campus on Roosevelt Island came from Cornell University and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
The academic design beat out several other proposals under the mayor’s Applied Sciences NYC initiative.
New York City will kick in $100 million in infrastructure improvements at the project that Mayor Michael Bloomberg said will "help us become the world's leading city for technological innovation."
