Southfield, Michigan-based Barton Malow has finalized the structural assembly on an $88 million addition to a college football stadium in Orlando, Florida.
On Aug. 14, construction workers placed the ceremonial final steel beam on the University of Central Florida’s Roth Tower addition to FBC Mortgage Stadium, per a release. The topping out milestone marks the halfway point of the project.
When complete, the 85,000-square-foot, four-level Roth Tower will expand UCF’s current club level space. In addition to expanding 28 suites, 34 new outdoor sky suites will provide more shade to the seating bowl.
The project broke ground in December 2024, and completion is expected ahead of the 2026 UCF football season. The team will continue to play in the stadium for the 2025 season, per Barton Malow.
Barton Malow is no stranger to building stadiums, especially in the South Florida region.
In February, the Orlando City Council selected a Barton Malow-AECOM Hunt joint venture for a $400 million renovation to Camping World Stadium. The improvements there will add 2,000 seats and improve the existing structure to extend the lifespan of the venue, which hosts college football’s Citrus Bowl and Pop-Tarts Bowl. Total construction costs for the renovations are estimated to be $338.5 million with $61.5 million in non-construction costs such as design and permitting.
Then, in May, the same JV announced it had won the construction manager job for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguar’s new stadium. Construction on the arena began in February, with a grand opening planned for August 2028.
