The U.S. arm of London-based Balfour Beatty was awarded an $889 million contract to reconstruct part of Interstate 30 in Dallas County, Texas, for the state’s DOT, the contractor announced on April 24.
As part of the contract, Balfour Beatty will reconstruct a 2.3-mile section of the route on the east side of the county. It will also increase the number of general-purpose lanes from six to 12 to improve congestion and connectivity across the city.
In addition, the company will construct nine crossings which will link I-30 with the Southern Gateway, I-35E Lowest Stemmons and the Dallas Horseshoe, all projects Balfour Beatty previously delivered for the Texas DOT.
The project follows another large Texas contract Balfour Beatty won — the $746 million I-35 rebuild on a 2.5-mile section of the highway on the south side of downtown Austin.
“With decades of experience executing complex roadway projects in Dallas, and an in-depth understanding of the region’s infrastructure, we are uniquely positioned to deliver these essential improvements,” said Leo Quinn, Balfour Beatty’s CEO, in the news release.
Preconstruction will commence in 2026, and is work estimated to last five years until completion, per the release.
