• In 2012, when business was finally picking up, the county sheriff's office logged 23 burglaries at building sites. Last year that jumped to 54.
• Deputies there have appealed to residents to report anything suspicious they see in or around construction sites, and they have stepped up patrols in areas with a lot of work going on.
