Dive Insight:
Built in 1969 and originally called Kulturpark Plänterwald by the government of Communist East Germany, it was renamed Spreepark after the unification of the country. Once it shut down, it became popular with trespassers and fans of "ruin porn." This past spring, it was officially put on the market and many hoped it would return to its former glory, a dream that is now dashed.
