Dive Briefs:
- General contractor Howard S. Wright is making the first move in a massive Bellevue, Wash., redevelopment project by demolishing a former warehouse.
- Wright Runstad & Co. bought the land for the Spring District in Bellevue, Wash., in 2007 for $68 million.
- The entire site covers 36 acres that will become 16 blocks with new infrastructure.
Dive Insight:
Knocking down the warehouse is symbolic because it means losing paying tenants who have been using the space. The whole build-out is expected to take 15 years, but Runstad plans to have the new roads in place by spring of next year. The project also has a light rail station in the plan.
