Trenton, NJ – October 29, 2015 – The Associated Builders and Contractors of New Jersey, Inc. (ABC-NJ) recognized the state’s outstanding company and project achievements over the past year during the annual Excellence in Construction Awards Presentation on October 29.
“This program showcases the hardworking and dedicated members of ABC-NJ for their outstanding abilities in construction and development,” said Patrick Stewart, President of ABC-NJ.
The goal, added Stewart, is to create greater awareness by the State of New Jersey of the quantity and quality of work being produced by ABC-NJ members; and to also continually raise standards throughout the construction industry. The awards are also an opportunity for ABC-NJ general contractors or subcontractors to have their commercial, industrial, or institutional projects join other Merit Shop projects; and be recognized by the ABC as the “Best of the Best” in the construction industry.
The judging panel consisted of non-ABC-NJ members from a cross-section of the industry including owners, architects, and other construction professionals. Judges based their decisions on notebooks and/or onsite visits. Projects were judged on a points system with a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 70 points to win an award. Points were given for the description of the project, photographs, project narrative, safety, and letters of recommendation.
Two types of awards were presented at the award ceremony – the ABC Eagle, a national award for excellence in construction, and the Merit Award, recognizing projects companies completed.
