Dive Brief:
- A New Jersey-based tile-making company offers businesses a way to sell their products visually in their spaces with high-resolution images glazed into the tiles themselves.
- The company's newest offering is its own design – visually crisp French fries – that follow commissions that included coffee beans for Dunkin' Donuts and vegetables for the Subway chain.
- Imagine's president, Christian McAuley, said the company gets to have fun "literally playing with our food," but the business proposition is: "More than ever, dining venues are looking to create an experience that goes beyond the menu offering, but also engages their guests in a themed or immersive space."
Dive Insight:
Because the tiles' finish is baked to commercial grade, McAuley said, they are able to be used for flooring as well as kitchen or serving area accents. The French fry tile took almost a day to get the right photo of fries fresh from the fryer for Imagine's 400-lines-per-square-inch printing process.
